2023 Polls: Ugwuanyi has no mountain to climb, it’s one-way to Senate – PDP Chieftain

Published

Hon Osita Ikwueze (Ogazi) is a PDP stakeholder from Enugu North popularly referred to as Nsukka zone.

Ogazi an opinion leader and stakeholder from Ihie Ward in Nsukka LGA has no doubt about Ugwuanyi’s victory at the polls.

Even when some suggest a tough senatorial battle between Ugwuanyi and the Labour Party candidate Okey Ezea, Ogazi would see such a permutation as baseless.

Remind him of the the emergence of Hon Chijioke Edeoga as Labour Party guber candidate, and Enugu North as his support base, he dismissed you with a wave of the hand.

In an exclusive chat with EverydayNews Hon Osita Ikwueze popularly known as Ogazi spoke with so much confidence.

He

said; “There is only one candidate for Senate in Nsukka zone, he is the PDP candidate Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. The Labour candidate is not a match; there is no comparison. We have concluded everything, it’s going to be a walkover.

“Ugwuanyi has done so well for both Enugu State and Enugu North; he is a household name. In Nsukka zone, he has touched almost every household in one way or the other. In villages, Communities, everywhere…we are singing his praise and it’s time to pay him back for what he has done for us.

He has transformed all these areas into cities. “Is it employment, is it in Education, infrastructure, standard of living, payment of salaries, what is left.

So we are very confident and our people are waiting for time; he is already a Senator.

The few people making noise are all aggrieved PDP members, not Labour Party. They have nothing to offer and therefore cannot change anything.

They were becoming selfish; been in power for six to seven years. Because it did not go their way this time, they say they are in Labour Party.

They have no foundation and therefore cannot stand.

Enugu North Senate is settled; Ugwuanyi is there. Go round and check the Statistics, nobody is running against him. Some are waiting to be settled.

Peter Obi has been accepted by the people. We are not going back on that. Apart from Obi, every other position in the zone goes to the PDP.

Don’t mind those telling you that our governor will not win the Senate election, they are not on ground. They are the urban guerillas who stay in Lagos and make noise. We are the grassroots; we are on the ground.

And you know, Nsukka people are politically informed. If we say we are with you, we are with you. So, we that are on the ground, the grassroots, we are telling you that Ugwuanyi is there.

Ihie ward is part of the University community and Ogazi says what they want to hear is Peter Obi, they don’t want to hear another thing. And we have a marriage of convenience; vote for Peter Obi for Presidency, for the rest it’s PDP. It’s settled.

Anambra Communities Boil As Group Carpets Traditional Rulers Over Zoning

By Okey Maduforo, Awka

Ten communities that make up Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State are set for a showdown with their traditional rulers following the alleged suspension of the zoning arrangement for the Anambra State House of Assembly elections.

Recall that on April 7, 2022, the traditional rulers, in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), resolved that the House of Assembly seats for Anaocha I and Anaocha II constituencies would rotate among the ten communities, with each town occupying the seat for two terms.

The traditional rulers further resolved that the rotation would subsist irrespective of the political party through which lawmakers emerge, noting that the arrangement was aimed at ensuring that all ten communities have the opportunity to produce members of the State Assembly in the interest of equity and fairness.

However, the Anaocha Equity Forum, shortly after its meeting, expressed concern over the alleged suspension of the zoning arrangement.

Speaking, the Convener of the Anaocha Equity Forum, Mr. Valentine Okoye, said the forum would not take kindly to what it described as acts capable of destabilising the council area, adding that any such move would be resisted.

“This is a Memorandum of Understanding signed by our traditional rulers, and it has been respected until now. We in the Anaocha Equity Forum see this as a slap on the sensibilities of the ten communities that make up the area,” he said.

“We urge members of the public, political parties, and stakeholders to disregard the alleged position of the traditional rulers, as it does not represent the views and aspirations of our people.

“Our traditional rulers should be mindful of their roles as fathers of their respective communities. They should also understand that they would be held responsible for whatever backlash or consequences may arise from this recent position.

“We call on Governor Charles Soludo to call the traditional rulers to order so that the peace currently enjoyed in Anaocha Local Government Area will not be disrupted,” he stated.
