The nomination was formally announced on Tuesday, October 21, in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, Doro’s appointment is to fill the ministerial vacancy created by Yilwatda’s assumption of the APC national chairmanship in July 2025. Yilwatda had previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction before emerging as party chairman.
“Dr. Doro’s nomination follows Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda’s election as the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in July. Yilwatda previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction,” Onanuga said.
He confirmed that President Tinubu has forwarded Doro’s name to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation, in line with constitutional provisions.
Onanuga described the nominee as “an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with frontline experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), covering urgent care, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospital settings.”
Dr. Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, as well as an MBA focused on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.
Beyond his professional background, Doro has led several youth mentorship and social impact programmes both within the Nigerian diaspora and across local communities in the country.
If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Doro will officially join President Tinubu’s cabinet, marking a key addition to the administration’s ongoing drive to strengthen governance and public service delivery.
