The traditional rulers disclosed that since the dawn of democracy in Nigeria, Aninri has not produced a member of the Federal House of Representatives whereas other local government areas in the constituency have each represented the constituency for 16 years.

The traditional rulers who conveyed their position through the traditional ruler of Mmaku Kingdom and Chairman, Awgu Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Cyprian Nevobasi maintained that if Awgu is not retaining the position, the position should automatically be zoned to Aninri local government as it has never occupied the position of member, Federal House of Representatives.

The traditional rulers issued a communique aiming at conveying their decision to the Governor of Enugu state, H.E, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi but adding that it is the final decision of the Governor to authenticate their concern for a continued peace, equity, justice and fairness in the federal constituency which his administration represents in the entire nation.

The leadership of the traditional rulers of the constituency, however, commended the Governor for the enduring peace he has entrenched in the state and other developmental strides recorded during his 7years as Governor of the state.
