By Chinedu Adonu

The Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has urged the traditional medicine Practitioners to embrace Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) emphasizing the growing significance of the sector in Nigeria’s healthcare system,

He noted that the establishment of the (TCAM) unit within the federal Ministry of Health, which Enugu State has adopted, underscores this shift.

Mbah made this statement during the launch of KIDVER and DONIX-T drugs, organized by Trust Global Services, a pharmaceutical company dedicated to natural healing methods.

He commended Dr. Elikee Ekenna, Managing Director and CEO of Trust Global Services, for his innovative contributions to healthcare and urged him to align his efforts with the TCAM initiative.

While highlighting that TCAM involves health practices outside conventional medicine, Mbah represented by the commissioner for health, Dr George Ugwu pointed out that even hospital medicines are derived from natural sources like leaves and roots, refined scientifically for safety and efficacy.

The drug reviewer, former Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Dr Fintan Ekochin, emphasized Nigeria’s potential to produce and export herbal raw materials, discouraging reliance on imported herbal extracts.

Earlier in his remark, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of the Trust Global Services, Dr. Ekenna shared success stories of the drugs, describing KIDVER and DONIX-T as natural herbal capsules capable of halting disease progression and reducing mortalities.

He explained that the formulations target reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, thereby preventing inflammatory reactions that can lead to tissue necrosis and death.

He stated, “These drugs can stop the degeneration of diseases into cancers, kidney failure, diabetes, stroke, and other chronic conditions. While potent enough to prevent progression, patients with established conditions should seek treatment and monitoring at our centers.”

The event drew notable healthcare stakeholders, including Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, CEO of Juhel Nigeria Limited, and other officials. –
