As Christians mark Good Friday, a day set aside to remember the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the General overseer of Voice of Freedom Christian Fellowship International, Pastor Polycarp Ugwu, has called on residents to reflect on the true meaning of the day.

Pastor Ugwu who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Enugu East LGA, Pastor Beloved Dan Anike, on Religious Affairs, encouraged everyone to think deeply about the sacrifice Jesus made and to let it guide how they treat others.

He said: “On this solemn Good Friday, I would like you to pause and reflect on the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ who bore the weight of our disobedience, was punished for our sins on the cross and died to procure our forgiveness and pardon.

He reminded the people that Good Friday isn’t just a religious tradition, but a powerful reminder of God’s love and the salvation freely offered to humanity.

“By His death which we celebrate today as Good Friday, He secured our reconciliation with God which is what we call salvation.”

Pastor Ugwu urged residents of Enugu East to honour Christ’s sacrifice by choosing forgiveness over resentment, love over hate, and selflessness over selfishness.

“Let us honour His death by forgiving one another, showing love to others, making sacrifices for the well-being of others and above all receiving the salvation (reconciliation with God) which He died to make available. God bless you all.”
