The Enugu East Local Government Area, in collaboration with the Ibagwa Nike Community, has announced the commencement of a comprehensive land verification and documentation exercise for all landowners in Freedom City Layout, Ibagwa Nike.
In a public notice issued on behalf of the Technical Committee, the council invited individuals, families, corporate bodies, and other entities who purchased land within the layout to present themselves for verification.
The exercise, according to the announcement, is aimed at identifying genuine landowners, resolving third-party interests, and laying the groundwork for compensation and possible reallocation where applicable.
The verification and documentation exercise will be held at the Enugu East Local Government Headquarters, Nkwo Nike and is scheduled to run from March 2 to June 1, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily.
Land purchasers are required to attend with relevant documents, including land purchase receipts, allocation papers, survey plans, deeds of lease or assignment, and any other supporting documents that may aid the verification process.
Chairman of the Technical Committee, Chief Valentine Eke, said the exercise is in line with agreements reached between the local government and the host community, emphasizing that it is designed to ensure transparency, protect legitimate interests, and promote orderly development of the area.
Affected landowners are therefore advised to take advantage of the exercise within the stipulated period to avoid future complications.
