Complaints have trailed the released list of transport companies contracted by the federal government for the 50% slashed fares for Christmas.
An Abia State based Public Affairs Analyst Chief Judge Ekwueme in reaction to the list of transport companies released for the Christmas contract said “it’s a high level of disservice and neglect to the masses oriented transport Company, PEACE MASS.”
Hear him; “I don’t know who owns the PEACE MASS Company, I am also not interested to know, but anybody in Nigeria today knows that the biggest transport Company is PEACE.
They have been there for the masses all these years. Therefore, if this scheme is actually targeted at the masses then PEACE Must be included.
“The reasons are numerous; for one, people who are used to peace, and they are in the majority, considering the number of fleet and availability, will be more disposed to this company they are used to.
“It’s also a way of recognising the company’s contributions in the country’s road transport system.
” One is not saying that those included are not qualified, but PEACE is number one. And excluding it raises many questions. People are already using the ‘cliche’, this is Nigeria. I am not part of that and I think the right thing should be done.
“Before it turns into an avenue of enriching some pockets without providing the necessary assistance to the Nigerian masses and giving the government a bad name.
“This government has already faced too many criticisms. The cash mapped out to cushion the effect of the oil subsidy is yet to get to many. What is what doing, is what doing well. I rest my case.”
