Ahead of the September 21 Council election in Enugu State, the Isi-Uzo Traditional Rulers Council has endorsed the immediate past Council Chairman of Isi-Uzo and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP’s chairmanship candidate for a second term, describing him as an epitome of people’s leader.

The endorsement took place at the palace of the Chairman of Isi-Uzo Traditional Rulers Council and the traditional ruler of Ikem Uno, HRH, Igwe Okey Ogbodo on Thursday.

The traditional rulers recalled that they had gathered to pray for Hon. Obeagu at the end of his first tenure during which they presented him with the ofo stick, offering to meet with Governor Peter Mbah and leaders of the PDP, if need be, in support of Obeagu’s second tenure.

They, therefore, said that his candidacy was a prayer answered and asked him not to turn from his virtues of humility, selflessness, and total dedication to service to the people of Isi-Uzo when re-elected.

The Chairman of the Isi-Uzo Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Igwe Okey Ogbodo, while thanking Governor Mbah and party leaders for renominating Obeagu, expressed confidence in the candidate’s capacity to deliver, pledging their unflinching support.

Some of the Royal fathers, who are facing security challenges around their their border communities said they never felt Obiora left office as Chairman, as he continued to work with them and the governor on the issue of security.

“I was not sure you left office as far as I am concerned because from the day you left office till date, you and I talk about security. I call you and you call me. And there was never a time I called that you did not answer. You continued doing the job even when you are not in office,” the traditional ruler of Ikem-Nkwo, Igwe Pius Nnamani said.

Speaking, Hon. Obiora Obeagu expressed deep gratitude and joy for the overwhelming support from the traditional rulers, pledging to strengthen partnerships with them in key areas, such as community engagement, development and security.

He assured them that his administration would continue to prioritise the well-being of Isi-Uzo communities if reelected.

The highpoint of the event was a round of prayers led by the traditional ruler of Umuhu, HRH Igwe Edmund Ogbu, to reaffirm their blessings on Obiora for a successful campaign, victory, and a fruitful tenure second tenure in advance.

Hon. Obeagu was accompanied by a robust delegation from his campaign organization, including Hon. Jacob Abonyi, the former Executive Chairman and current PDP Chairman of Isi-Uzo; Hon. Uche Ugwueze, the Director General of Obiora Obeagu Campaign Organization; Dr. Obinna Nnamchi, the PDP Vice Chairmanship candidate; and Hon. Barr Azubuike Odo, the campaign’s spokesperson.
