The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed a total of 1,322 personnel for Special Easter Operations in Enugu State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Command, Pamela Chukwu, disclosed this on Thursday in Enugu.
Chukwu said the command, under the leadership of Commandant Elijah Willie, had strategically deployed personnel across the state to ensure adequate security coverage during the Easter celebration.
According to her, the proactive deployment is aimed at safeguarding lives and property, maintaining public order, and ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.
“The personnel have been tactically positioned in identified flashpoints and vulnerable areas based on intelligence reports and past security assessments,” she said.
She noted that the areas include major worship centres, motor parks, markets, recreational centres, highways, critical national assets, and other public places expected to witness high traffic during the festive period.
Chukwu added that special attention had been given to black spots and densely populated urban centres prone to security breaches.
She further disclosed that operational teams—including the Anti-Vandal Unit, Rapid Response Unit, Intelligence Department, and Disaster Management Unit—have been placed on high alert to respond swiftly to emergencies.
Patrol teams, she said, would conduct round-the-clock surveillance, while rapid response squads have been stationed at strategic points for immediate intervention.
The PRO also revealed that the command has intensified collaboration with other security agencies to enhance intelligence sharing and operational efficiency.
She urged residents to remain vigilant, comply with security guidelines, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest authorities.
“The command reiterates that security is a collective responsibility and seeks full cooperation from the public,” she added.
