
Enugu State government has reacted to the state of the Abakpa bridge saying there is no cause for alarm as efforts were on to effect immediate repairs.
The commissioner for Works and infrastructure Engr. Greg Nnaji told EverydayNews in an exclusive chat said that an intergrity survey has been conducted on the bridge and result being evaluated.
He assured that work would commence on the bridge very soon.
The commissioner said his attention had been drawn to it earlier than now and he went with a team of engineers to conduct intergrity test on the bridge and result of the assessment is being evaluated.
He assured Enugu people that the bridge would not get to disaster as the intergrity of the bridge is still intact. That the erosion would not jeopardize the intergrity of the bridge.
All we are trying to do is to come out with a remediation on the embarkment and protection.
EverydayNews had reported that the Abakpa bridge is currently a disaster awaiting to happen.
But the commissioner reassures that the bridge is still intact just as he said that worrk will soon start to protect the bridge.
