It is literally modern day slavery at Caritas University, Enugu, a privately owned institution.
Workers are allegedly working without promotions and commensurate pay packages. Like slaves, they dare not complain.
This is a letter from one of the workers to Governor Peter Mbah to save the situation.
Your Excellency Sir, the management of Caritas University Enugu has been treating it’s workers like slaves. Yes, we may not be bound in chains like the days of slavery, but we are not better off.
The institution conducted a promotion interview, this is the only promotion exercise they have carried out in the last eight years.
The results came out and letters of promotion were given out to the promoted ones. But the management said the promotion will have no impact in their remuneration.
This is even as the letter stipulates that the financial effect will be activated by the bursary department.
Also, your Excellency, Caritas University is not remitting deductions for pensions of staff to the PFA’s . Thereby, planning a bleak tomorrow for already trampled workers.
Save us your Excellency.
When contacted the Vice Chancellor failed to respond to whatsapp messages sent to his mobile phone.
Keep a date next week Monday, for another Edition of Good Morning Mr Governor.
