Unpaid Salaries: Caritas University Enugu May  Shutdown

There are fears that Caritas University Amorji Nike, Enugu State One of the high institutions owned by Catholic Priest Rev Fr. Emmanuel Edeh may be closed.

This is sequel to the inability of the School to pay workers salaries.

Vice Chancellor of the Institution Orji Michael Uchenna who spoke during a meeting with staff of the institution expressed concern that the school may go into extinction.

He reportedly expressed sadness that the salaries of workers have not been paid since April 2025 till date.

The VC disclosed that the University is considering pulling out from Mayfresh Bank and as a result may not be able to pay workers their respective salaries till around September 2025.

The development has triggered reactions and concerns over how such university is being run.

Sources close to the school confirmed fears that the development will pull the university backward as academic programmes will be put in jeorpady .

One of the sources emphasized that with the current economic situationof the country, withholding workers salary will amount to low output, as most workers will be forced seek other means of survival.

The Source said, “The issue of Mayfresh Bank has been a torn in the flesh of workers of the institution before now. All fees are paid through the bank, but no time will the bank accept the liquidity to pay workers their respective salaries.

Mayfresh Bank also founded by Rev Fr Edeh alongside Madonna University has been having issues over recent efforts from some quarters to change ownership of the bank as well as the institutions.

All staff salaries are domiciled in Mayfresh, no staff is expected to open an account with any other bank except Mayfresh fbank

The VC informed workers that Caritas will be pulling out of Mayfresh, but the workers will have to forfeit pending salaries
