…As NGO Withdraws Case Against Accused Bishop

Members of the Bishops Forum of Nigeria, Pentecostal Churches, Ebonyi State Chapter have appealed to the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya to allow the association intervene, bail and settled out of Police in the case of sexual abuse between Bishop Onyeagoziri Okorie and a 22 year old Sickle Cell Victim, Euphemia Ede.

The group in a letter dated 14th of October 2025 and addressed to the Commissioner of Police titled, RE: A CASE OF SEXUAL ABUSE INVOLVING BISHOP ONYEAGOZIRI, Application to Intervene, Bail and Settled Amicably Out of Police said the group feel pained and bitter that such a case is involving its members.

“We are members of Bishop Forum of Nigeria, Pentecostal Churches, Ebonyi state Chapter, belonging to the body of Christ.

“We humbly apply for bail and amicable settlement of the case of sexual abuse involving our members: Bishop Ndubeze Sam. Onyeagoziri, General overseer of Champions, the Truth Cathedral Church, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State who has been in police custody over two weeks today and his Secretary, Miss Euphemia Ede, both of whom belonging to our Christian faith.

The application signed by the Chairman of the association, Bishop Samuel Onu and Secretary, Bishop Samuel Aja maintained that the case does not only damage their image, moral standing and reputations as Christians but the entire Christian family and/ the body of Christ whom we prophess.

They noted that, the essence of the letter is to grant them the opportunity to bring the parties together and settle them peacefully so as to stop further escalation of the matter and report back to the police.

“We sincerely appluad the efforts of police Command Ebonyi state in carrying out a discreet investigation on this matter and who have ensured that the matter didn’t escalate beyond control.

“We pledge that releasing him on bail to us will not by any means jeopadize your investigation or Justice in this matter but would bring peace and full repentance between the parties.

Meanwhile, a sickle cell advocate, Aisha Edwards Maduagwu has withdrawn her petition before Ebonyi State police command against Bishop Onyeagoziri Okorie in the matter between her and the sickle cell patient, Euphemia Ede

Aisha Maduagwu had petitioned the State Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya and Governor Francis Nwifuru, calling for the immediate prosecution of the cleric.

She cited insincerity, deceit and blackmail as part of her reason for withdrawing the sexual abuse scandal matter adding that the girl is being sponsored by a popular businessman, a cleric while she is using her health challenge to curry sympathy from members of the public. Ends.
