Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Dr. Muhammed Egye Osolafia, popularly known as Deedat, the Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Services to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.

Osolafia was taken from his residence in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The governor’s aide was reportedly kidnapped upon arriving at his home in Tudun Amba area of Lafia on Saturday night.

The assailants were said to have stormed the area, shooting sporadically into the air before heading straight for their target.

Confirming the incident, Mr. Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Adviser to Governor Sule on Public Affairs, described the abduction as “sad and unfortunate.”

“I received the news of the abduction from another colleague,” Ahemba told our correspondent.

Osolafia’s abduction comes barely two months after the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Culture, Barrister Yusuf Musa, was similarly kidnapped from his residence in Ungwan Nungu, also in Lafia.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, for comment on the incident were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
