The Anambra State Police Command on Tuesday continued activities marking this year’s National Police Day with a walkathon aimed at promoting physical fitness among officers and strengthening ties with the public.
The exercise, held on the second day of the celebration, followed earlier activities which included environmental sanitation and a free medical outreach for officers, their families, and members of the public.
Speaking on the event, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the initiative forms part of efforts to enhance both the physical well-being of personnel and police-community engagement.
“As part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration, the Anambra State Police Command today, March 31, 2026, undertook a walkathon aimed at promoting physical fitness and strengthening police-community relations,” he said.
The fitness walk, which commenced from the Command Headquarters, featured the participation of the Command’s management team, other officers, and members of the public, reflecting unity and a shared commitment to healthy living.
Ikenga noted that the exercise underscores the Command’s dedication to improving the welfare of its personnel while fostering closer collaboration with residents in line with community policing principles.
He also appreciated members of the public who joined the exercise and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state.
