In his letter, Gawuna said his decision was in strict adherence to the President’s directive.
“My resignation is in strict compliance with the President’s directive requiring all political appointees to step down in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act,” he stated.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as both impactful and fulfilling.
Reflecting on his next political steps, he noted that he is entrusting his future to divine guidance.
“I place my future in the hands of Allah (SWT), and I seek His guidance on my next course of action,” he added.
Gawuna also assured of a smooth transition process, pledging to hand over responsibilities in line with due process.
“I remain committed to ensuring a smooth transition process and will hand over all responsibilities in accordance with established procedures and directives,” he said.
His resignation adds to a growing list of political appointees stepping down in line with the President’s order, as alignments ahead of the 2027 elections begin to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
