Two men, Chisom Acho (22) and Chinonso Imeba (28), were on Tuesday remanded in the Enugu Correctional Centre after they were arraigned before Magistrate S. O. Chukwuani of Enugu North Magistrate Court 1 for allegedly posting videos on social media accusing a sitting federal lawmaker, representing Ezza South/ Ikwo federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, of murder and ritual activities.

The defendants were charged with conspiracy and cyberstalking.

According to the charge sheet marked CYREN/693/2025, the police alleged that Acho and Imeba, along with others still at large, “between the months of September 2025 and October 2025 at Obed Camp, Ngenevu, Enugu… did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: cyberstalking and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 27 of the Cyber Crime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2015 (as amended) 2024.”

On the second count, the defendants were accused of circulating defamatory videos on Facebook and TikTok. The police said they “knowingly or intentionally made video publications through Facebook and TikTok handles ‘Ikwo Pluto’ and ‘Pluto777’ respectively, using the picture of Rt. Hon. Chinedu N. Ogah, OON, stating that ‘Rt. Hon. Chinedu N. Ogah, OON killed some youths from Item Amagu, collected their talents, made some of the youths to go mad and used some for ritual purposes,’ and sent same to social media platforms and the internet, which has ridiculed his image and damaged his reputation.”

The charges fall under Section 24(2)(a)(b) and Section 27 of the Cybercrime Act.

Their plea was not taken.

Prosecuting counsel, CSP Justice Allah, informed the court that the case file had been tendered and transmitted for legal review. Defence lawyers Chijioke Ugwueze and Samuel Ede represented the defendants.

Magistrate Chukwuani refused bail application and ordered that the two be remanded in the Enugu Correctional Centre to allow the Directorate of Public Opinion, DPP’s review.

The case was adjourned to December 2 for continuation, pending legal advice from the Office of the Attorney-General.

After the sitting, defence counsel Chijioke Ugwueze explained the next steps, saying: “The matter came up today for arraignment and they were arraigned under Federal laws bordering on cyberstalking, and the court, having looked at the weight of the charge, declined jurisdiction and had the defendants remanded in prison custody pending the opinion of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP. So, we will take it up from there and do the needful.”ð
