The state government directive was contained in a memo dated August 28, 2025, signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.
The memo referenced an instruction from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters in Abuja.
According to the statement, the passports are to be submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government at the Government House, Enugu, on or before Friday, September 5, 2025, for onward transmission to the NIS Enugu Command.
“This exercise is a matter of national protocol and strict compliance with immigration regulations, and it must be treated with utmost urgency,” the statement stated.
It added that the cooperation of all affected persons is required to ensure a seamless process.
“Your full cooperation is respectfully solicited to ensure a smooth and seamless process,” the memo said.
