Enugu Assembly Passes 2025 Budget Appropriation of N971.84 billion

The Enugu State House Assembly has passed 2025 appropriation bill of N971.84 billion on Tuesday.

This followed a report presented by Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Anthony Nwankwo PDP Awgu South.

Nwankwo said that his committee engaged Ministry, Department and agencies during budget defense.

He said that the committee recommended the passage of the budget as presented by the executive to accelerate good governance and enhanced provision of infrastructure in the state.

Contributing to the passage of the budget, the Minority Leader of the Assembly, Chief Iloabuchi Aniagu said that the budget was tagged “Exponential Growth and Inclusive Prosperity”.

Aniagu described this administration as first of its kind in the history of Enugu adding that 2025 budget doubled that of 2024 which is N571billion.

He said if passed it would bring meaningful development to the people urging his colleagues to do the needful to enable the state government have a framework to move forward.

While commending his colleague after the passage,the Speaker of the Assembly, Chief Uche Ugwu commended the legislators for giving the bill aclerated hearing.

Ugwu said that the ball is now on the court of the executive as the assembly had done their part.

He encouraged his colleagues to engage in aggressive oversight to ensure that contractors did exactly what they were asked to do.
