The Minister for Works, Senator David Umahi, Former Chief of Staff to former Imo State Governor, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu among other notable Nigerians has commended the Leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Kingsley Ikoro for Enrolling over 100 indigent citizens of the Constituency in the State Health Insurance Scheme
They also commended the lawmaker for embarking on free medical outreach to mark his 50th Birthday anniversary.
Senator Umahi who described Hon Ikoro as kindhearted politician who is always desirous to ensure the welfare and wellbeing of his constituents said that the lawmaker has embarked on developmental strides that has brought succour to the people of Afikpo North West.
Senator Umahi who was represented by the former commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Barr. Cletus Ofoke noted that the laudable achievements of Hon Ikoro has endeared him to the heart of his constituents and Ebonyi State at large and noted that celebrating his birthday with the elderly shows his commitment to lifting the downtrodden.

Senator Umahi maintained that with the dispossession and commitment of Hon Ikoro, he would continue to excel adding that his good gesture is what is needed for the State and country to move forward.
He urged Ikoro to do more to reduce the cases of gender based violence that is happening in Afikpo adding that Afikpo is one of the communities with high recorded cases of gender based violence due to its culture.
Flagging Off, the enrollment, the Former Chief of Staff to the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Uche Nwosu commended Hon Ikoro for the gesture.
Chief Nwosu noted that what Job ikoro did was giving health to the people. It is only who is alive that is healthy. If you are not healthy, you can’t even take spoon to eat. What he did is what every political office holder, elected or appointed should do for their people.
“We live in a tropical area where people don’t check their blood pressure from year to year. Where people whenever they have headache, they say is Malaria and they will go and buy malaria tablet not knowing its BP.
“Some people will have kidney issues and they believe someone from their village has done something to them.
Hon Ikoro has given his people the avenue to get free medical care for 1 year. Not everybody can do it. The medical care also covers even operations. I must commend him for the gesture to the people. Some are in that office but are doing anything.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity and called on the people to desist from patronizing quacks. Why most rural people patronize quacks is because our health facilities are not functional.
“When they look at the money involved in paying hospital bills at the different private hospitals, it makes them feel like not going to the hospital. Most of our government hospitals in Nigeria are not working, the private hospitals is so expensive and how many rural dwellers can afford it.

In his address, the Member Representing Afikpo North West State Constituency, Hon Kingsley Ikoro said that the Bassey and Grace Ikoro Oha foundation is a foundation the Ikoro family is putting in place in memory of their late parents.
“It is a foundation that we intend to use to impact lives through healthcare delivery and support in education. This foundation is a foundation that is going to be built on love for mankind.
“This foundation will ensure that lives are touched, this foundation will start a medical health tour across all the communities in the Constituency to ensure good health for our people.
He said the foundation will cater for the health needs of the beneficiaries including operations.
