Federal Government has issued a stern warning to private employers, stating that any organization or individual failing to comply with the new N70,000 minimum wage law risks imprisonment. According to the government, this wage adjustment is mandatory, and employers who refuse to adhere to it will face serious legal consequences.
“The minimum wage is a law, and you can be jailed if you fail to implement it. The Federal Government is committed to ensuring that the least paid worker goes home with N70,000,” an official spokesperson announced.
This recent announcement reaffirms the government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of workers across Nigeria. The law aims to protect the rights of employees and ensure that they are compensated fairly for their work. The Federal Government has urged all employers to immediately adopt the new wage structure and avoid any legal repercussions.
Incorporating this new policy highlights the government’s focus on creating a more sustainable and equitable workforce. Employers are encouraged to take prompt action to ensure compliance and avoid facing the full weight of the law.
