A woman has been mauled to death by her two registered XL Bully dogs in what is thought to be the first fatal attack by dogs granted an exemption from the government’s ban on the breed.
Armed officers from the Metropolitan Police were scrambled to a house in Havering, east London, on Monday afternoon after reports that a woman had been attacked.
Paramedics, including the air ambulance, were also called to the property in Cornwall Close, Hornchurch, with witnesses reporting the quiet road was cordoned off by police.
Sadly the woman, who was in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family are being supported by specialist officers.
Police have confirmed they have seized two dogs from the property, both of which were registered XL Bullys owned by the woman.
