The Ebonyi State Government has announced the death of its Commissioner Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Mrs. Uche Okah.
A government statement said she died in Abakaliki on Friday.
The statement described the deceased as one of it’s finest, hardworking and brilliant commissioners in the state executive council.
Mrs. Okah who also worked with the State ministry of Works was one of the few staff of ministry that ensures that quality and durable jobs are done in the state without compromise.
Condoling with the Okah family, Governor David Umahi urged the husband, Mr. Celestine Okah, on the demise of his wife, said that the State government recieved the news of the death of Engineer Okah with rude shock adding that her death has placed a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of the husband and family.
In a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Francis Nweze, Governor Umahi further described Engineer Okah as a dependable ally in the success story of Ebonyi State under his administration.
“We have received with rude shock the sad news of the abrupt demise of your amiable wife and dependable asset to our Government Late Engineer Mrs. Uche Okah, no doubt, her demise has placed a lot of responsibility on your shoulders”.
“We as a government and the good people of Ebonyi state encourage you to hope in the Lord for comfort bearing in mind that both my Family and Government are saddened by this unfortunate incident and we all share with you in this moment of grief”
Governor Umahi noted that the demise of Engineer Mrs. Okah came at a time she was committed to joining forces with the Government to bequeath enduring legacies to Ebonyians adding that it is devastating to her family and the state government as well but encouraged the deceased family to put their faith in the Lord instead of grieving as though all hopes were lost.
While acknowledging that the Commissioner has been a strong pillar of support to his Government, Governor Umahi prayed to God to grant the departed rest in his bosom and grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss. Ends.
