Speaker of the Igboeze South Legislative Council Hon Ugochukwu Ezeugwu has dismissed reports making the rounds that 16 Councillors walked out on the Local Government Chairman, Hon Vitus Okechi.
The speaker who dismissed the report as baseless also wondered where the issue of alleged plot to impeach the Chairman emanated from.
Speaking to Everydaynewsngr.net Wednesday night Hon Ezeugwu said the report was not only false, but misleading and urged the public to disregard the news and it’s pedlars.
Said he; “The chairman was not even around, so how could we have walked out on a man who was not present. I was even included among those that walked out on the chairman; you can imagine.
“I laughed when I read about the strange News in some WhatsApp platforms. It was even the Deputy Chairman who was around for the public hearing.”
Everdaynewsngr.net investigations revealed that the councillors who received their transport allowance were also asking for sitting allowance, while they deliberated in the Speaker’s office.
Our source said it was later resolved that the money be paid into the speakers account ahead of the sitting.
He said he is not surprised with such propaganda coming at a time people are struggling for the position of Chairman.
