An 84-year-old man has died after a large explosion at a house in Edinburgh.
Sky News reports that the blast happened at a house in Baberton Mains Avenue at about 10.25pm on Friday night and was heard from miles away.
Neighbours said they could feel their house shaking, and another person claimed they heard the blast from inside a nearby cinema.
Two other people, a 43-year-old woman and 54-year-old man, were taken to hospital for treatment.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent five vehicles to the scene, but the two people inside the building had been rescued before they arrived.
A spokesperson confirmed it had received “reports of a gas explosion affecting residential properties on Baberton Mains Avenue” and that there were no suspicious circumstances.
Several properties were evacuated as a precaution and the road remains closed.
