Crisis is currently brewing in some Federal Teaching Hospitals over the decision of the Minister of Health to unilaterally appoint Chief Medical Directors.

Affected hospitals include Irua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State, Lagos Teaching Hospital and Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State

EverydayNews reliably gathered that contrary to the rules of appointing new Chief Medical Directors the Minister Dr Osagie Ehanire has allegedly cornered the exercise to himself for alleged selfish interest.

Our source disclosed that rather than use the Boards of the hospital to interview and select from the candidates, the Minister set up his own committee which conducted the interview.

Rather than forward the names of the selected candidates to the Presidency he allegedly resorted to inviting all the candidates separately to his office.

This has been said to be contrary to the rules and an attempt to manipulate the exercise with allegations of bribery flying here and there.

This is currently brewing crisis across the three tertiary hospitals who have called on President Buhari to call the Minister to order.

The hospitals are gearing for massive protests vowing to reject any imposition of candidates by the Minister.
