The Eastern Security Network, a paramilitary arm of the IPOB has reportedly clashed with the Joint Security team as herdsmen related killings continue in Eha-amufu, Isi-uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The clash which happened on Wednesday is the fallout of recent herdsmen attack in the area.

Recall that there was a recent massacre by suspected herdsmen which forced Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the GOC 82 Army Division and other Security Chiefs in the state to visit the area to reassure the people of their safety.

Findings show that killings and further attacks continued afterwards, forcing IPOB to send in members of the ESN to defend and protect the villagers.

Conflicting reports allege that more soldiers were drafted to the area to launch attack on the suspected ESN members leading to heavy shootings and killings on Wednesday.

Another version said that the ESN who stormed Eha-amufu started attacking and killing policemen and soldiers in the area thus the attack on the IPOB security.

However, the villagers have repeatedly accused security personnel of not being
professional in handling the Eha-amufu/herdsmen crisis which has lingered. They acuse the security operatives of appearing ‘helpless’ in the face of continuous attacks on the people by herdsmen.

Details of casualties and other information on the clash were sketchy as at the time of this report.

The 82 Division of the Nigerian Army and the police are yet to react to the development.
