It took Dr. Okwudili 20 years to know he had a female child. The same number of years to know that his 20-year-old son was actually a twin.
Twenty years ago, his wife delivered at a hospital in Enugu, and happily they went home not knowing that they were robbed of a baby.
Fast forward, and it’s 20 years this 2022, and what has been hidden was exposed.
How it happened
Dr. Okwudili a rector of one of the private Polytechnics in Enugu has shops attached to his house somewhere in Thinkers Corner, Enugu.
And this girl Chika (not her real name) who was a student at Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ebonyi, decided to learn sewing to keep herself busy due to the protracted ASUU strike. That was how she found herself in one of the shops rented out by Dr. Okwudili.
Reports say that neighbours started pointing out resemblance between Chika and Dr. Okwudili’s wife. Some even confronted her to query that she never told anyone she had a daughter, but she maintained her story.
As stories continued to make the rounds, Chika herself would reportedly go to the house when she is hungry and demand for food.
Over time Mrs Okwudili discovered that the girl has eye problems and decided to take her to an eye clinic.
The doctor was said to have also pointed out the resemblance between the duo. He further noted that the eye problem is exactly the same as that of her son. That Chika’s prescription for glasses is exactly that of her son.
He advised that she probe into the paternity of Chika.
Meanwhile, it was discovered that Chika’s
birthday was the same with that of their son, and that her place of birth was the same hospital in Enugu with their son.
At the end, EverydayNews learnt that a DNA test was run and it became clear that Chika was Dr. Okwudili’s daughter.
Chika’s parents were invited and they reportedly confirmed she was adopted.
However, the ‘foster parents’ have reported to the police where the case is currently being sorted out.
