Member representing Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency Dr. Patrick Asadu’s push to pick Labour Party Senatorial ticket for Nsukka zone is currently being frustrated.

Asadu who lost out in the PDP primary in a bid to return to the House of Reps for the fifth time has been negotiating to join the Peter Obi Labour Party to run for Senate.

While the party is said to be disposed to his request, and ready to organize a fresh primary to accommodate him, the already elected Senate candidate for the party is said to be frustrating all plans.

The same goes for the member representing Awgu/Oji-River/Aninri Hon Toby Okechuukwu who has also been pushing to join the Labour Party.

Our source said the deal would have long been concluded if not for the candidates who are not ready to listen to anyone about withdrawing from the race.

The duo are part of stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Enugu State who feels shortchanged in the just concluded party primaries.

Already a former PDP guber aspirant Hon Chijioke Edeoga has crossed over to the Labour Party and picked the party’s guber ticket.

Some aggrieved PDP stalwarts in the State are converging in the Labour Party to show their grievances and at the same time give the PDP a run for their money in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
