One month blackout: No hope for residents of Trans Ekulu Enugu

Lamentations have trailed the over one month blackout in some parts of Trans Ekulu, Enugu with no hope of salvation, not even from the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC.

While some residents said the darkness was brought upon residents as a result of a damaged transformer, some others have no reason why they have been penciled down to suffer.

Most of those who spoke to EverydayNews expressed shock with the nonchalant attitude of the Power Distribution Company EEDC who they alleged have not shown any concern about the plight of the people.

“Inspite of several complaints, EEDC has refused to show concern. They don’t appear to be bothered, and there are no efforts whatsoever to attend to the problem.”

Chief Ede who sounded so bitter said that the residents are ready to contribute money, if that will save them from the precarious situation.

“I have never seen anything like this. A private company that provides such services at a very high cost, most times not commensurate with the epileptic services does not have any interest or care about about the feelings or plight of its customers.

“I don’t know what to say, but I want to use this medium to appeal, in-fact we are begging EEDC, to look the way of Trans Ekulu and find a solution to this power issue.

“We are ready to make contributions; yes, that’s where we have found ourselves in this country. EEDC please save us from this darkness.”

When contacted the spokesperson of the EEDC Mr. Emeka Eze asked for time to get more information about the situation.

He was yet to get back to our reporter as at the time of this report.

He did not also pick further calls from our office.
