Joint action committee JAC of non academic staff union NASU and Senior staff association of Nigeria universities SSANU of the university of Nigeria Nsukka chapter have threatened to shutdown the university over non payment of earned allowance and arrears of minimum wage.

The chairman Joint Action Committee JAC of NASU and SSANU university of Nigeria Nsukka chapter Paul Erua made this known to journalists as the committee of the university embarks on three day protest alongside other universities across the country.

Erua said that all branches of the joint action committee were mandated by the national body to embark on the three day protest to reject the sharing formula of the next tranche of N22, 127 billion to be released by the federal government

He explained that federal government allotted 75 percent of the next tranche to academic staff and 25 percent to none teaching staff which is not acceptable by the joint action committee of NASU and SSANU, noting that the proposed sharing formula of the federal government is provocative to be used for the next tranche of the N22,127 billion.

The joint action committee of the university of Nigeria Nsukka chanting solidarity song with placards which read “we reject the proposed skewed sharing formula of earned allowance” federal government pay us our minimum wage” refusal of federal government to obey the agreement reached with JAC on earned allowance.”

He pointed out that the sharing formula has to be 50 percent to both academic staff and none teaching staff and nothing less than that as it stands with the none teaching staff.

The joint action committee of NASU and SSANU also resolved that the three day protest was equally in line against the federal government refusal to pay arrears of minimum wage consequential adjustment as earlier agreed on August 26th, 2021 to be paid at the end of last October 2021.

Erua however advised all none members to join as the next tranche of earned allowance will solely be shared among registered members of the university of Nigeria Nsukka chapter.

Clifford Amoke chairman NASU University of Nigeria Nsukka and Linus Akata secretary SSANU assured of total compliance to the three day protest pending further directive from national body.
