Former Local Government Chairman and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State, Chief Ben Alukwu has called for caution following recent attacks on Anambra billionaire and Philanthropist, Prince Arthur Eze.

The Anambra oil magnet came under severe fire from Peter Obi supporters after he said the Labour Party Presidential candidate cannot win the Presidential election come 2023.

The comment has attracted wide condemnation and criticism including name calling by both big and small.

But in a swift reaction, Chief Alukwu popularly known as ‘Commander’ urged the people especially Igbo’s to sheathe their swords.

Said he; “The attacks on Prince Arthur Eze is uncalled for at this time considering his freedom of speech and association.

“Eze na Ukpo as popularly known is an enigma of sort in Igboland and must be treated with absolute respect irrespective of his political standing. Let’s thread with caution.”

Alukwu described Arthur Eze as an outstanding philanthropist who has shown love to the masses and an elder statesman who deserves respect no matter his stance on issues and politics.

Stressing that the Ukpo billionaire has right to choose his candidate, Alukwu who frowned at some offensive reactions in the social media urged Igbo’s to show Prince Eze the respect and honour he deserves even when they don’t agree with his politcial views or stand.

“This is Igbo land, and we have respect for elders especially someone like Arthur Eze who has always identified with Igbo cause and has been outstanding in giving life to the less privileged and downtrodden in the society.

“If their is anyone who should be maligned, certainly not Arthur Eze,” he opined.
