The Board Chairman of the Enugu Smart City Development Authority, Rt. Hon. Ikemba U.S.A. Igwesi, has formally registered with the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah.
Igwesi completed his registration under the APC’s ongoing e-registration exercise in Obuoffia Ward, Nkanu West Local Government Area, on Thursday, January 15, 2026. He described the move as a reaffirmation of his commitment to progressive governance, the “Tomorrow is Here” development philosophy, and a structured approach to sustainable growth.
Speaking after receiving his registration slip from ward party officials, Igwesi commended President Tinubu’s administration for what he described as bold and disciplined economic reforms aimed at stabilising and repositioning the country.
According to him, Governor Mbah’s infrastructural and investment-driven reforms in Enugu State, particularly through the Smart City Masterplan, align with the APC-led federal government’s national development agenda.
“President Tinubu is taking difficult but necessary decisions to reposition Nigeria, while Governor Mbah is complementing these efforts with far-reaching reforms in Enugu State,” he said.
“My registration today reflects my conviction that both leaders share a common vision of building a modern and prosperous Nigeria.”
The former member of the House of Representatives said he had been an early supporter of Governor Mbah’s leadership, noting that the governor’s vision and programmes convinced him that Enugu could not afford to miss the opportunity for transformational governance.
“We are not hesitant in our support for Governor Peter Mbah because he has justified the confidence reposed in him since 2023. His leadership has gained wide acceptance across Enugu State,” Igwesi stated.
He expressed confidence that Governor Mbah would secure a second term in 2027 to consolidate on his developmental strides.
Ward officials of the APC described Igwesi’s registration as a major boost to the party’s grassroots mobilisation in Nkanu West, noting that his political influence and experience would strengthen the party’s structure ahead of future elections.
Igwesi, in his remarks, urged residents to actively participate in party and civic activities, stressing that inclusive political participation remains key to effective governance.
“Nation-building requires collective responsibility. I encourage our people to register, participate, and support initiatives that bring development to our communities,” he said.
The event was attended by the Secretary of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Prince Barr. Onochie Igwesi, who also registered with the party in the ward, alongside APC leaders, stakeholders, and youth groups.
