Hon Uche Ugwu representing Udi South State Constituency has been tipped to emerge as the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly after it’s inauguration today.

Ugwu was the immediate Deputy Speaker of the Enugu Assembly.

Also anointed for the position of Deputy Speaker is Ezenta Ezeani representing Igbo-etiti West State Constituency.

The Peoples Democratic party, PDP, which has the minority in the Assembly is said to have relied on an existing House rule to pick the Speaker and Deputy.

The rule gives preference to ranking members of the House in the election of its leadership.

All the 14 members of the Labour Party are first timers.

It will be interesting to see how things turnout at the Assembly where the Labour has the majority of 14 members against PDP’s 10 members.

Will the Labour Party members put up a fight based on number or has all been settled before today?

Also, which party produces the Majority Leader since first timers cannot hold leadership positions.

The stage is set.
