Reliable Information reaching our newsroom suggests that the Abia State Governoship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prof Uche Ikonne may not be standing for the forthcoming election.
This is due to his health condition which is reported to be depreciating by the day.
Close sources say the candidate was allegedly hit by stroke and currently incapacitated.
He may therefore not be able to contest the Abia guber contest scheduled for March 25th.
Ikonne was last seen in public during the G-5 Governor’s rally in Umuahia Nov. 22 last year.
Concerned Abia politicians have counted about 53 days since Ikonne was last seen in public.
His abscence has also reportedly slowed down the party’s campaign in the state.
Feelers say the situation has caused anxiety for both Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and party leaders in the state.
Efforts to reach the Director General Ikonne Campaign Organization failed as he couldn’t be reached on phone.
