The Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday unveiled newly elected party executives in the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
Also inaugurated were party executives in the 260 wards across the state.
The exercise which is coming four months after their elections, will end at the Nkanu East LG headquarters in Amagunze, on Friday.
The party’s state chairman, Dr Martin Chukwunweike, who oversaw the exercise, urged the newly elected executives to get to work for the party’s success ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Inaugurating the executives at the Aninri LG, Chukwunweike regretted that the party made a grave mistake in the 2023 elections, which saw it lose seats to the Labour Party in the legislative houses at the state and federal levels.
The chairman, however, said that the jobs of the party executives had been made easier by the performance of Governor Peter Mbah in various aspects of the state economy.
The PDP chairman appealed to the party members to support the new executives to fulfil their mandate of mobilising party members to win future elections.
The party’s state secretary, Chukwudi Nnadozie expressed happiness that most of the party members, who left in 2023, had returned back.
“I was very happy when our house members from the Labour Party defected back to PDP.
“Before that 2023 election, there was nothing like the Labour Party in Enugu State. I’m sure that’s why they decided to take that decision to return to the fold. We’re happy that they’re back. In due time, we’ll reward them,” he said.
