The reported emmergnce of former Commissioner and former PDP guber aspirant, Hon Chijioke Edeoga as Enugu Labour Party guber candidate has been described as the begining of a politcial revolution in the state.
The Oji-River Local Government Chairman of the Labour Party Dr. Mc Ginger Ibeneme in an exclusive chat with EverydayNews said the party has got a rallying point in Edeoga.
“We got a rallying point. Edeoga has experience in the act of governnace having worked in government.
“He has first hand exposure on the challenges one would face governing the state.
“His emergence will also address the issue of the minority in the power sharing arrangement of Enugu State where the so called zoning does not recognize the minority.
“So we are hoping that his emergence will address that issue of the minority amongst the regions.
“He is a seasoned lawyer and an administrator. He also knows the tricks of the opposition having been in their ranks and also being cheated out of the primaries.
“He will bring his experience and exclusive Information on antics of the ruling party in swaying elections in Enugu State.
“We are hoping to win the election and we expect Edeoga to bring about the change.
“So, his doggedness, his insistence on going to the polls is a challenge to the establishment who now allocate power.
“Labour Party is about shaking the table, confronting the system. Anybody who feels he is able, just like Peter Obi should try it out with his party.
“PDP primary was monetized and the rules were not clear. The method applied in adopting the guber candidate was shrouded in uncertainties. Like Peter Obi Edeoga was not satisfied and he decided to side with the people.
“We are tired of politics of give and take we want a free and fair election where the people can freely vote for their preferred candidates and hold them responsible when they fail to perform.”
Ibeneme noted that with Edeoga joining the Labour Party as it’s guber candidate, Enugu is moving away from one party system.
He observed that the other opposition parties like APGA and APC have not lived up to expectations over the years, making feeble attempts during elections.
But with Labour Party and Edeoga, he said there will be a real challenge to the PDP hegemony in Enugu State.
“Because lose or win the next Government will know it’s no longer business as usual.”
