The Ebonyi State Government and the family of Late Supreme Court Judge, Hon Justice Sylvester Nwali Ngwuta yesterday announced the indefinite postponment of the burial following security reasons in the state.

In a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr Uchenna Orji and made available to EveryDay News said that a new date for the burial would be announced later.

According to the statement; “This is to inform the general public that due to security reasons, all funeral arrangements between the 28th to 30th April, 2021, scheduled to mark the burial of His Lordship, Hon. Justice Sylvester Nwali Ngwuta, Justice of the Supreme Court, at Abakaliki and Ukawu are hereby postponed indefinitely”.

“New dates shall be announced later”.

Barr Orji noted that the State Government, the deceased family and the Burial Planning Committee regret any inconveniences the postponment might have caused the public.

EveryDay News gathered that all the arrangements for the commencement of the burial arrangements of the Supreme Court Judge has been concluded before the announcement.

The postponment might not be unconnected to the killing of 2 Soldiers and I security personnel in Afikpo yesterday and the burning of the Abakaliki Federal High Court along Enugu Abakaliki Express road.

It was observed that following yesterday’s unfortunate incidents, security has been beefed up at the Ebonyi State Judiciary complex and other Federal government facilities in the state. Ends
