Abakaliki the Ebonyi state capital was literarily shutdown as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, guber candidate in Ebonyi Senator Obinna Ogba made a ‘triumphant entry’ into the state after his recent court victory in Abuja.
Ogba was returned as the PDP guber candidate following an appeal Court judgement set aside the judgement of an Abakaliki Federal High Court which earlier declared Chief Ifeanyi Odii the candidate.
From the Akanu Ibiam International airport Senator Ogba’s supporters took over the entire space at the airport singing and dancing victory songs ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Over 1000 vehicles left the Enugu airport in a motorcade which virtually seized traffic at major junctions along the Enugu/Abakaliki expressway.
It was a mass movement as Abakaliki residents joined the motorcade through the popular Spera-in-deo junction, Vanco roundabout to the Ezza Road campaign office of Senator adjudged the most popular guber candidate in the state.
Addressing supporters Deputy Speaker Ebonyi House of Assembly RT. Hon Odefa Obasi Odefa, former Ambassador and Senatorial candidate Chief Frank Ogbuewu re assured the people that with the Appeal Court decision the roads was clear for a PDP victory in the state.
They described Ebonyi as a PDP state stressing that it is time to reclaim the the party.
Ogba who has been code named Mr. PDP having not left the party since it’s foundation stages thanked supporters for defying the late morning rain to receive him all the way from the airport.
He promised that he will not let the people of the state down by the time he is sworn in in May 2023.
He urged them to continue to mobilize in their various wards and encourage their people to get their PVC’S so they can exercise their franchise by voting during the general elections in 2023.
