The 78-year-old actor, popularly known as Ebubedike, reacted to the latest rumour during an interview, stating clearly that he is alive and in good health.
The false report had alleged that he was rushed to the hospital and died, with claims that his son, Uche Edochie, confirmed the news on social media, a claim the actor has now debunked.
“I’m alive and will die when my maker calls me home,” he said, recalling several past hoaxes, including false reports of a plane crash and claims he had already been buried.
The respected actor, who will turn 79 on March 7, attributed his continued vitality to strong family longevity, noting that his father lived to the age of 96.
Edochie remains an influential figure in Nollywood, with honours including the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) Industry Merit Award.
