A coalition of student groups in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday issued a stern warning to individuals allegedly attempting to incite unrest and disunity among students, urging them to desist or face the collective action of Nigerian students.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the Obi-Mbieri Resort, Airport Road, Abuja, the coalition’s spokesperson, Comrade Mubarak Aliyu, accused Peterside Amachree—an aide to former political figure Matthew Ossas Iduoriyemwem—of visiting hostels within the University of Abuja and the College of Education, Zuba, since last week to mobilize students for a planned protest. The protest, he said, was reportedly aimed at key aides of President Bola Tinubu, including the Minister for Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

“We want to seize this opportunity to call on all students to stay clear of any ploy for protests, especially now that our nation is grappling with various security challenges,” Aliyu said.

He further urged security agencies to monitor and, where necessary, act against individuals he described as “enemies of the nation” seeking to destabilize campuses.

The coalition also demanded that Amachree be banned from entering any FCT campuses for any reason. “We cannot allow him to deceive our students or foment disunity,” Aliyu added.
