Enugu State Government has appointed a new commissioner to take over the affairs of the Ministry of Transport, he is Hon Peter Andy Omeje.
He was the immediate past Chairman of Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Before his appointment the Ministry has been without a Commissioner following the death of the former one, which left the administration of the Ministry under the Permanent Secretary.
In a meeting with the Management Team of the Ministry the new commissioner was full of praises for Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s style of leadership which he noted has made the present administration in the state a huge success.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve again having been a local government Chairman, “it is a rate privilege and I promise not to disappoint him.
Hon. Omeje urged the Management Team as well as all workers to see him as a friend and brother rather than a boss.
He called for unity of purpose amongst the staff and urged them to work together stressing that only by functioning as a team that much could be achieved.
In his response the permanent Secretary Chief Ogbonna Idike, welcomed the Commissioner officially and urged the staff to give the him full support and cooperation.
Idike who outstandingly held fought in the abscence of a Commissioner noted that the Ministry had carried out it’s duties creditably and would definitely do better now that there is an executive head.
He assured him of the commitment and dedication of the workers promising that unity in the Ministry will make his work much easier.
In a vote of thanks the Deputy Director in charge of information Department, Mrs. Chieso Aninwagwa described the new Commissioner as a humble and democratic leader whose track records showcase success and achievements.
She assured the Commissioner of the support, commitmemt and cooperation of workers to ensure he succeeds.
She described the Management Team of the Ministry as very credible and dedicated.
