Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru has described the demise of the Honourable Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye as a rude shock.
Speaker Nwifuru who is the National Vice Chairman, South East, Conference of Speakers of the State Legislatures of Nigeria while commiserating with the Government, Legislature and people of Ekiti State, noted that the demise of his Ekiti State counterpart, came at a time when the new Government of Ekiti State would have harnessed his Legislative experience, to move the State forward.
Hon Nwifuru described Rt. Hon. Afuye as a perfect gentleman and urged the people of Ekiti to take solace in the truth, that Funminiyi served and impacted humanity, positively.
He prayed God Almighty to grant the Funminiyi family, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Government and the entire good people of Ekiti State, the strength to pull through, at this difficult time.
Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, 66, died yesterday, Wednesday, October 19, 2022, following a cardiac arrest. He was elected Honourable Speaker of the sixth Ekiti State House of Assembly on June 6, 2019. Ends.
