President Mohammadu Buhari is billed to fly out of the country for medical treatment abroad.

The President would be leaving Nigeria for London on Monday. He is expected to spend two weeks abroad.

A message from the verified Twitter handle of the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed this on Monday.

He wrote: “President Buhari leaves for London October 31, 2022, for routine medical checkup. He returns to the country 2nd week of November, 2022.”

Politcial observers say the president’s medical trip could affect the presidential campaigns of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Presidential flagbearer Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Buhari, as the Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council is expected to lead the campaigns ahead the 2023 elections where the ruling party is seriously being challenged by Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Thus, the President’s abscence is viewed as a major setback, at a period the campaigns are expected to be in full swing.

It is however, the opton of the party and stakeholders as we as the Presidential Campaign Council, to mark time and wait for Buhari’s return or go on without Mr. President.
