The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Internal Security, Ivo local government area, Chief Ike Cletus Ngah has pledged to provide adequate security and other logistics support for the recently awarded contract for the construction of Amaeke-Ike Rive road and 3 Span bridge awarded by the State Governor Rt. Hon Francis Nwifuru.
Chief Ike said that the bridge has been in a very bad state and has prevented most elderly women from the community from going to the farm for fear of drowning in the river and said that Governor Nwifuru has done the community the best thing in their lives.
Chief Ike made the pledge yesterday during the annual Thanksgiving Service of Amaeke-Ishiagu community held at the Amaeke play- ground and the distribution of Wrappers, Bags of Rice and Cash gifts to widows and other Indigent women from the community numbering over 200.
He said that the villagers converged at the playground to give thanks to God for all his benevolence to them in the past years adding that he was very much delighted with the award of the contract for the construction of the projects.
He said that the Amaeke Ike River road and the 3 span bridge has been a night mare to the people of the community adding that the women has remained appreciative to the State Governor for embarking on the project
“Governor Nwifuru has done the best thing I and my people ever wished for in life by awarding the contract for the construction of the 4kms Ike River road and the 3 span Ike River bridge with 4 boxed culverts.
“To ensure the project is completed at the stipulated time and ensure the security of lives and properties of the contractor handling the project, i will be complementing the effort of the State Government by providing security and other logistics for the contractor.
He noted that he was inspired to reach out to the indigent women in order to complement the efforts of the State Governor, Francis Nwifuru adding that the people’s-oriented policies and programmes of the present administration has been beneficial to the people of the State.
He described the Governor as a compassionate leader whose veins profusely flows with the milk of human kindness adding that the community will certainly reward him with massive votes during his second term election because of his numerous projects executed in the area.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Udechukwu Juliana and Mrs Cecilia Onu appreciated the magnanimity of Chief Ike stating that he has been a succour giver to them and a renowned community leader whose limitless charity is second to none.
The women noted that with the construction of the bridge, they will have access to their farmlands and easily brings their produce to the market. Ends.
