The on-going construction of flyover at the popular T-Junction in Abakpa is a commendable project which must be commended.

The flyover at the T-Junction became necessary as a result of the perennial traffic jam which was becoming a menace to road users.
The traffic issues increased due to increase in traffic flow caused by the bad state of the 9th-Mile/Nsukka/Obollo-Afor expressway; a dilapidated federal Road which has been abandoned.
All vehicles traveling to Nsukka, Abuja, Jos, Markurdi have this diverted to the Enugu/Ugwogo/Nsukka by-pass putting more pressure on the road.
Worried of the pain road users suffer on the road, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi awarded the contract for the flyover and gave the contractors one year to deliver the job.
The Government also ensured alternative routes were provided to cushion the effect of the closure of the road on motorists.

It is the first of such projects in Enugu and one of the signature projects of the Ugwuanyi’s administration. It is a project for today and tomorrow; one that will stand the test of time.
