The Commissioners of Police for Benue and Enugu States, CP Emenari Ifeanyi Innocent, PhD, psc, mnips, and CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, respectively, on October 29, 2025, held a strategic operational meeting to strengthen collaboration and address emerging security challenges affecting both States.

During the strategic meeting, which took place in Benue State, the Commissioners identified the infiltration of criminal elements and their connivance with unscrupulous elements within border communities as major enablers of interstate crimes. Consequently, they resolved to enhance interstate crime-fighting synergy through improved intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and joint deployment of resources to combat violent crimes across border communities.

A police statement said focus areas of the renewed collaboration include Ado, Ogbadibo, and Okpokwu LGAs in Benue State, as well as Igbo-Eze North, Isi-Uzo, and Udenu LGAs in Enugu State. The meeting, attended by senior operational officers from both Commands, is to be held routinely to sustain the joint efforts.

It is worth recalling that the two State Commands recently collaborated to arrest criminal suspects operating across both States, rescuing kidnapped victims and recovering stolen vehicles, laptops, mobile phones, and other robbed items.

The statement was Jointly signed by SP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer
Enugu State Command and DSP Edet Udeme, for Benue State Command.
