Ahead May 29th handover and inauguration of a new governor in Enugu State, EverydayNews reports that the serving Local Government Chairmen would be allowed to serve out their tenure.
An impeccable government source revealed that already both the incoming governor of Enugu State Dr. Peter Mbah and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi have agreed that the chairmen be allowed.
While other states have in the past dissolved the Local Government administrations leading to litigations, continuity and respect for the rule of law has been agreed.
The Local Government Chairmen were elected for a tenure of two years and Enugu is about to set a wonderful example in the South East.
Meanwhile, Governor elect Dr. Peter Mbah is said to have completed compilation of members of the State Executive Council days before his swearing in.
As expected each Local Government is producing a candidate in the new list of commissioners which Mbah has kept close to his chest.
Inside sources, however, disclosed that the outgoing Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi made some inputs in the list, and has held several consultative meetings to that effect.
The tussle for who leads the media team is on but our source confirmed that unlike Ugwuanyi who picked his press secretary from Enugu, Mbah is looking beyond local journalists.
Position of Commissioner for information is said to have long been settled with a familiar name who has been around during the campaigns penciled down.
