Stranded and embarrassed, Enugu traditional rulers led by the State Chairman of the Traditional Ruler’s Council Igwe Lawrence Agubuzo are licking their wounds from the disrespect and insult by visiting APC Presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Aguguzo who spoke to EverydayNewsngr.net on phone refused to say much about the embarrassment by the former Lagos Governor.
He however told our reporter that the traditional rulers will meet today to deliberate on the matter.
Said he; “we will hold a meeting today, after that I will speak. It’s not a personal thing.”
However, some traditional rulers who spoke privately to our reporter described the incident as “not just insulting, it’s a total embarrassment to the entire traditional rulers and traditional institution of Enugu state. It’s regrettable.”
Another top monarch said” you can’t believe it my brother, we waited from 10:am until about 4:pm when we discovered he had gone.
“There was no respect to our position as traditional rulers, no respect to our age. No remorse at all. It was a brutal experience and show of disrespect for a Presidential candidate.
“It’s more embarrassing for the fact that we were in touch with his people and they knew we were waiting. It’s the height of insult to Enugu’s traditional institution.”
EverydayNewsngr.net reports that the Presidential candidate of the APC was in Enugu for campaign.
The campaign which was held at the Okpara Square venue was marred by the recent crisis in the party which led to massive boycott by leaders of the party.
There were protests and counter accusations of fraud in the build up to the campaign visit.
Former Governor Sullivan Chime, Minister Geoffrey Onyeama, former Senate President Ken Nnamani were all absent at the event.
