Police officers stranded in Enugu barracks, served quit notice

Some police officers are currently stranded at the Railway, Area Command, Eastern District, Enugu following the Ejection Notice and 24-days ultimatum served on them to pack out from the Railway Police Barrack.

The Notice signed by the Area Commander, Railway Area Command, Eastern District, ACP Bawa Daniel Elisha warned the police officers to vacate their accommodation before January 15th 2022.

It was gathered that the affected police officers were asked to renew their accommodation (Authority) or vacate the barracks.

It was also alleged that the police officers were asked to pay the sum of two hundred and eighty thousand naira (N280,000.00) or three hundred and eighty thousand (N380,000.00) respectively to retain their authority ( accommodation) or vacate the barracks.

Reacting the Area Commander Eastern District, ACP Bawa Daniel Elisha confirmed the ejection Notice given to the police officers.

In his words “Yes I am aware. We have a lot of  officers transfered to us, and we are leaving in the Railway Barracks”.

“The quarters is for the police officers serving in Railway” he added.

When asked about payment of N280,000.00 and N380,000.00 for the barracks accommodation, ACP Bawa Daniel Elisha said “let them say who they gave the money. I don’t know who they gave the money”.

“All I am after is that my boys are stranded since they were posted to Nigeria Railway. They need accommodation to settle down” he added.

However, it was alleged that those who paid for the accommodation inside police barrack were not given receipt or allowed to pay into the bank account of the officers collecting the money.
